1979 My dad told me he met Diego Rivera in 1950. It happened at the invitation of Ruth Rivera—Diego’s daughter and my dad’s friend and fellow Architectural Engineering student at the IPN—when Rivera demonstrated the golden ratio to them geometrically. He told them, “Alright, kids—apply this to your architectural projects.”

1980

I constructed my first four-point compass (using two 30 cm pieces of wood and drilling a hole at 0.6183 (ɸ – 1)).

1980 .- While I was studying Finance—with specializations in Credit and the Stock Market—I was introduced to Fray Bernardino de Sahagún’s spiral and the concept of the Mean and Extreme Ratio.

1981.- We set out to craft spirals from flat bar stock to understand their curvature.

2006.- We set out to share knowledge—starting at the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico—regarding the Golden Ratio and its practical applications in design, engineering, architecture, and finance.

2018.- We design and fabricate physical compasses for laser cutting (wood, plastic, and steel) exclusively as part of a research process.

2022 .– With Painting

We use the proportions of the Golden Ratio to understand rhythmic waves and proportions, directional sense, movement, cycles, and progressions.
